DESCRIPTION
Joe is a large, comfortable seat in the shape of a giant baseball glove, with hidden wheels for transport.

As a tribute to the renowned American baseball player Joe DiMaggio, the designers created this piece in the spirit of Pop Art.

Through a bold change in proportion, they were able to turn the glove into a comfortable seating option, bringing a hyperrealist figure from the world of art into the home.

About

D’Urbino, Lomazzi

In 1966, Pas, D'Urbino, and Lomazzi established Studio De Pas. De Pas, the architect, passed away in 1991.

During the 1960s and 1970s, the studio's primary focus was on producing temporary furniture and architecture that made use of innovative signs, materials, and industrial technologies, such as pneumatic structures for the Milan Triennale.

They also participated in many exhibitions in this field with works and installations. Beginning in the 1970s and continuing through the 1980s, the studio produced industrial and residential structures for which they won numerous accolades.

You can view examples of the three architects' work in the design collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin and Zurich, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Museo del Design of the Milan Triennale.

Theoretical and cultural work complements the design work, such as the time spent teaching at the Milan Politecnico University (1999-2008) and the IUAV University (Venice) (2005-present).

In 2010, the studio's records were entrusted to the Centro di Alti Studi sulle Arti Visive of the Milan Municipality, where they are now considered to be of "particularly important historic interest" by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. 2012's Il gioco e la regola was the title of the Milan Triennale's monographic exhibition devoted to the studio.
