Francesca Lanzavecchia (Pavia, 1983) and Hunn Wai have formed a creative partnership under the moniker Lanzavecchia + Wai.
Designers, in their eyes, must also perform the roles of researchers, engineers, craftspeople, and storytellers. Beginning under the tutelage of Droog Design co-founder Gijs Bakker, they worked together while students at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
Lanzavecchia has a keen eye for the future and an interest in how things connect with people's bodies and spirits. Wai is interested in how materials, meanings, and forms collide and combine.
They see design projects as research expeditions characterized by the pursuit and selective application of various design disciplines and professional competences, to be curated, cross-bred, and nurtured into ideas and goods that propose possibilities and inspire new points of view.
Founded in 2010, the design studio has offices in Italy and Singapore, and its clients include FIAM, Living Divani, Cappellini, De Castelli, Gallotti&Radice, Bosa, Nodus, Mirage, as well as Hermès, the Milan Triennale, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAXXI), Alcantara, Antolini, Tod's, and AgustaWestland.
They have won many awards, including "Young Design Talent of the Year" at the 2014 Elle Décor International Design Awards.
