About

Mario Bellini


Mario Bellini, who was born in 1935 and attended the Politecnico di Milano, received his degree in 1959. He currently resides and maintains a professional presence in Milan.

All the way from urban planning to furniture and industrial design, he does it all. His time in the spotlight as a designer began in 1963.

He has won numerous prestigious architecture awards, such as the President of the Italian Republic's own Medaglia d'Oro, and is widely recognized for his work as an architect and designer around the world.

He was awarded the "Ambrogino d'oro" in 2011, an honor bestowed upon only the city's most distinguished residents.

He has lectured at the world's top cultural institutions and served as the magazine's editor. Many famous art museums have his works in their permanent collections.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York, which hosted a retrospective of his work, currently features twenty-five of his designs in its Permanent Design Collection. Numerous shows have been held under his name in Italy and other countries.

From the 1980s onward, he has designed the Portello Trade Fair quarter in Milan, the Exhibition Centre in Villa Erba on Lake Como, the Tokyo Design Center in Japan, the Natuzzi America Headquarters in the United States, the Trade Fair in Essen in Germany, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, the Headquarter of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, the new Verona Forum complex, the museum of the History of Bologna, and the new Department of Islamic Art in the Louvre in Paris, among many other notable buildings

Zhenjiang, China, dubbed "New City," is currently in the planning stages.
