About
Jamie Durie
Designer and author Jamie Durie has won numerous awards on a global scale since he opened his own design business in 1998.
Since then, Durie design has amassed over thirty-three international design honors; in May 2014, he won the New York Design Award for the interior design of the chair he created for RIVA 1920, dubbed "Il tubolare Dining Chair."
Although Durie Design's roots are in landscape architecture, the company has expanded to include architectural, interior, and landscape design in addition to Durie's true love: furniture making.
The term "transterior," which Durie and his team devised to describe their innovative approach to interior-exterior design, is now widely used.
Though the furniture itself is inspired by nature, he remains committed to his philosophy of merging indoor and outdoor spaces so that his clients can feel closer to the natural world without sacrificing comfort or elegance.
