DESCRIPTION

The fibreglass Mushroom, like the Ball Chair, Pastil, and Tomato before it, is one of Eero's earliest creations. In addition to serving as a stool, it also functions as a compact table. In 1967, Eero Aarnio came up with the concept for the fiberglass Mushroom.

Eero Aarnio

A major figure in the development of contemporary furniture. Eero Aarnio broke away from conventional design in the 1960s by working with plastics, bright colors, and organic forms. The Ball chair (1963), Pastil chair (1968), and Bubble chair (1968) are just a few of his plastic masterpieces that have become cultural icons. In addition to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Aarnio's work can be found in the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany.
