About

Antonio Citterio

Italian architect Antonio Citterio's birthplace is the city of Meda, and the year is 1950.

After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a degree in architecture in 1975, he launched his own studio the same year. Many European and Japanese structures were designed by the two of them between 1987 and 1996.

Citterio and Patricia Viel founded their architecture, interior design, and graphic design studio in the year 2000. The office has a global reach and develops intricate, long-term projects in tandem with an expert team of consultants. A new name, "Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel," has been adopted for the clinic.

Besides his work with Vitra, industrial design clients of Antonio Citterio's include Ansorg, Arclinea, Axor/Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Hermès, Iittala, Kartell, Maxalto, Sanitec (Geberit Group), and Technogym.

He's won a bunch of stuff, including the Compasso d'Oro twice (1987 and 1995). From 2006 until 2016, Citterio taught architecture at the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio.

In 2008, he became what is known as a "Royal Designer for Industry" thanks to the London-based Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce.
